ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience
to Work

My name is Teddy Reel, and it is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for Hunt County Judge.

My family and I are longtime residents of Hunt County and have resided in Commerce, Greenville, and Royse City over the years.

I’ve had the honor of serving on the Commerce City Council and previously served as Mayor of Commerce, including a second term, before stepping aside to seek service at the county level.

I retired from L3Harris with nearly 40 years of service and had the honor of working alongside great people in the service

and defense of our nation. For nearly 35 years I was in project management and managed projects large and small while

establishing/maintaining budgets and schedules.

As a proud graduate of the Commerce ISD, I was inducted into the Commerce ISD Hall of Honor in October 2025. Also, a

graduate of East Texas State University, now East Texas A&M University, I’ve enjoyed being a part of university activities as an alum and Mayor of Commerce. Ann and I have been married for 41 years and have three grown children and three grandchildren. I’m an Eagle Scout, a former Scoutmaster, a member of First Baptist Church Commerce, and the Commerce Rotary Club. When I retired, I had three goals. Spend more time with family, serve more at church, and become involved in the community. Service to the citizens of Hunt County would fulfill the goal of service to the community.

As Mayor of Commerce, we established a Downtown Revitalization Plan to begin in 2026, a 5-year Strategic Plan, and a 20-year Comprehensive Plan. These plans prepare Commerce for the growth that is coming and helps Commerce retain

its identity as a community with rural values. A few other notable accomplishments during my time as Mayor of Commerce include street reconstructions, doubling the size of our animal shelter, and installing the largest splash park between Dallas and Texarkana. Additionally, we refurbished our historic Public Library, have a new residential community, East Oak Creek, and new industry partners.

Where I will make a difference:

My 35-year project management experience is directly relatable to the responsibilities of Hunt County Judge.

Experienced in significant business management and decision making.

Proven large business budgeting experience.

Experienced governing in an elected role.

Committed to continuing to prepare for the growth coming to Hunt County.

I believe in the transparency of government and being accessible to the citizens of Hunt County.

For years I met the needs of government customers and now the customers are the citizens of Hunt County. It would be

my honor to serve the citizens of Hunt County as the next Hunt County Judge. I would enjoy the opportunity to serve the

county that has been my home for so many years!
